Brazil has an exceptionally high rate of carjacking. In fact it is so high that it is higher than that of South Africa. In South Africa the trend for carjacking appears to be decreasing with 13902 reported incidents in the year to March. This is 1066 less than last year. South Africa can still be considered to have a big problem so if Brazil has got more of problem then you can see that something needs to be done about it.
Last year the Brazilian government said they wanted all new vehicles to be fitted with anti theft tracking as standard. This is a great idea if it is put in place, but as yet it has not been put in place at all.
There are companies that are looking to take advantage of the huge potential to sell anti theft tracking to the South American market and of course there are already companies already selling anti theft tracking systems in the region.
