EGNOS – New Satellite Service being Started In The EU

The service is going to be called European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service and will give enhanced accuracy to GPS. It is said that the new service will be accurate within 2 meters as opposed to the current service which is only accurate within 10 metres for the current system.

This new service which is called European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service will be known as EGNOS. It will effect and improve all systems which use GPS. Which include many mobile phones and of course vehicle tracking systems.

This new service will also work faster in situations where the old system would have struggled and taken much longer. Such situations may include where the sky is obscured by trees. This will mean that faster communication with the satellites and therefore make the overall tracking service much more reliable and cohesive. The same goes for areas with a high number of large buildings which currently can also cause the current service to work slower. This should not be the case with the new system.

This great new service should making GPS vehicle tracking work even better than before and an even more powerful business tool.
