Fleetsmart have added the use of Google Street View to their vehicle tracking application. Cybit also did this back in June sometime and it is a feature that has proved to be both popular and useful.
Google Street View for those who have not come across it is a feature of Google Maps whereby you can view a photographic view at street level of 99% of the streets within the UK. This is not to be mistaken for a satellite view that could previously be seen. You can actually view it at street level.
Fleetsmart have added this feature as it gives managers and business owners an extra insight into where their drivers are at all times. If they are unsure of a certain area they can use Google Street View to ascertain exactly what type of area it is or if there are limitations of that road that may affect the vehicle. Such limitations include width restriction or low bridges. This gives you the power not to be lied to about an area by your less contentious staff.
Google Street View initially was a clever and intriguing feature of Google Maps, but now it has turned into a powerful business tool.
