Geofencing – A Feature of GPS Vehicle Tracking

Geofencing has been introduced as a feature that you are able to have on a GPS vehicle tracking systems, but what geofencing?

Geofencing is a virtual perimeter that can be selected by the fleet managers. The idea of setting these perimeters is that when the vehicles that are being tracked are driven so that they exit these set perimeters the fleet managers, or those who monitor the fleets using the vehicle tracking devices, are notified immediately. They can be notified by SMS messages or via email, whichever is more convenient for the managers.

So, if you want one of your employees to deliver a product to a paying customers selected address, you could select a mile radius of the route that you want the driver to take, the route of course can also be created on the GPS vehicle tracking device. If the driver was to wonder off route, for whatever reason, then you are notified. You will then be able to contact the driver, either by mobile telephone, or via the voice communication systems that can also be installed with the system.

As not all GPS vehicle tracking systems are able to work with the geofencing, you will need to request this when purchasing.
