Few situations are more irritating and distressing than losing a mobile phone, especially knowing that it contains contacts we can’t manage without. Now GPS tracking systems are proving a powerful and efficient way of recovering missing phones, as long as the following criteria can be met :-

1. The mobile phone must be turned on.
2. Owners must have a GPS tracking application installed on the phone in question.
3. That application must be running – this ensures that the GPS is actively reading satellite signals to be able to work out the phone’s location.
4. The mobile phone must be receiving signals from satellites
5. It must also be receiving signals from phone towers, to enable it to send information to the Internet for the owner to view.

An increasing number of businessmen are having GPS tracking installed on their Blackberry as a means of avoiding certain disaster, should their phone go missing. If they do, the owner can find out the last point at which the battery still had a charge, to avert a situation where he loses a contract, if not his whole career. This small, lightweight piece of software is the perfect vehicle for tracking and being connected to the whole mobile phone network means it can transmit the very pieces of information the user needs, straight to his computer screen.
