GPS Truck Tracking

Tracking your fleet of trucks has many advantages and there is a selection of systems to choose from on the market.

There are two ways you can track lorries. You can have tracking on the cab of the lorry. The disadvantage to this is that if the trailer is stolen it does not track the whereabouts of possibly the most valuable part of the vehicle, the contents of the trailer.

This is why trailer tracking has become popular. We have spoken about the advantages of trailer tracking before on this blog, but I will run through these briefly again. Trailers often get swapped from around between cabs at depots. For this reason it is important to know where particular trailers are. Also if a truck gets hijacked it is the trailer the thieves are after and are more likely to unhitch this from the cab when the truck is parked up and hitch it up to a new cab in order to steal it.

Tracking trucks is big business as it is such a powerful business tool for haulage firms and companies with large supply chains. It can save them a fortune every year in multitude of ways. For companies operating on large countries or companies that send vehicles abroad it is even more useful to the business.
