In Two More Than 19,000 Watercraft Thefts Occurred In The States

More and more people are getting interested in pleasure boating. When we say pleasure boating we include yaughts, speed boats, jet skis and even power boats. There really is a high level of theft due to the value of the boats and what is on board.

For this reason many are now installing GPS tracking systems on their boats. These tracking systems are often used in conjunction with the mariner if it is equipped to do so. The security staff at the mariner can often monitor the boats whereabouts within the mariner and if it is being moved without the owner’s consent then they can intercept the boat to stop it being stolen.

Most boats fitted with GPS tracking systems can be recovered and often a very short distance from where they were first stolen from. This makes tracking systems for boats an extremely attractive proposition. Boats are very expensive and most people have an emotional attachment to their boat and would not want it stolen even if the insurance paid out.

Tracking systems for boats are not something we normally discuss here on this blog, but it is just yet another great use for GPS tracking.
