Mobile Tracking v Vehicle Tracking

What is the best way for a Company to track its employees? Via hand held devices or the vehicle they are using? Many companies and their Managing Team have very different opinions on what they feel is the most effective way of tracking their employees.

To track employees by a hand held device i.e. mobile phone, means Companies are able to have all of the benefits of using a vehicle tracking system at a much lower price to the company, and obviously, as the devices do not have to be fitted, no company vehicles are out of use. Mobile tracking providers out there, have no lengthy contracts. Mobiles are able to monitor location, speed and of course start or stop times.

However, many other Management Teams feel that vehicle tracking is a much better way of monitoring their employees and is the way forward. By tracking using a vehicle tracking device, the Companies employees do not have to be relied on to make sure that their phones are charged, or kept on them at all times. The employee will not feel as though their personal life is being invaded as they are not being monitored but the vehicle is. With vehicle tracking, the Management Teams are able to track a vehicle if it is ever stolen. They are also able to ascertain whether the Company vehicles are being driven safely. But will the two systems ever combine? Only time will tell.
