Mobile workforce solutions refers to a device which a courier, engineer, construction manager may use if they have to record information and take signatures while out and about. Often delivery drivers will ask you to sign a screen on a device when they deliver parcels to your door. This replaces the old pen and paper. The worker will carry this device with them in their van or car.
The advantage of mobile workforce solutions is to reduce the amount of paperwork while on the move. It also helps office staff collect the signatures and deliver data, as there is no need to type up such information as it can be transferred directly on to the computer when the mobile worker returns to base.
Mobile workforce solutions can, but do not always work in tandem with vehicle tracking systems for a variety of reasons. Some buses have versions of mobile workforce devices for selling bus tickets and these often work in tandem with the vehicle tracking on the bus. This data is sometimes sent back to base as it is collected. Rather like a real time vehicle tracking system does.
