Police Sign New Tracker Deal
All 52 police forces in the UK will be helping to reduce car insurance premiums over the next five years, thanks to a deal with Tracker to extend the current contract arrangement which has provided an important partnership between the two. Using Tracker’s GPS tracking systems, police are able to pinpoint the exact location of a stolen vehicle, even if it is concealed in a lock-up or container.
Detection units locate the devices, which use a combination of Very High Frequency (VHF) and GPS technology. The units can be operated from police patrol car vehicles and helicopters; the deal means that Tracker becomes the only vehicle recovery operator whose system is used by every single police in the UK. This is good news for Tracker as they dominate this very important market, good news for the police who, at last, have a reliable and efficient means of retrieving stolen goods and – not least- really good news for drivers as insurance premiums drop as a result of the saving in pay-outs.
The Association of Chief Police Officers recently announced that their work with Tracker has delivered real results across the country, helping them to recover stolen vehicles and clamp down on car thieves, bringing offenders to justice and raising public confidence in the ability of the police to recover their possessions and prosecute the culprits.
