Police Using Vehicle Tracking

Tracker has just been lucky enough to sign a five year deal with the Police to use their vehicle tracking systems. The tracking systems will be used in all 52 police forces around the UK. These stolen vehicle tracking systems will enable the police to find vehicles in containers and lockups. These tracking systems do this by using VHF and GPS technology to get such accurate information.

Car theft is a big problem and the police need all the help they can to fight this crime. Such systems could result in a lot of arrests and the recovery of a lot of people’s cars. This will in turn lower insurance premiums.

This is great progress and it will be interesting to see how much it can lower car crime in the UK. Car crime has already dropped since 1995 when it was at its highest, but last year there were still nearly 1.5 million thefts related to vehicles in England and Wales. Therefore there is still more work to be done.

There are many things you can do help prevent your car or van being stolen. Keep it locked when you are not with it, keep valuables out of sight are to name just a few. As most car thefts are opportunistic these common sense things are can make all the difference.
