Prepare for the Holidays with Vehicle Tracking

If you have yet to add some sort of vehicle tracking device to your fleet or personal vehicle, now is the time.  Police are warning people with cars to be wary due to the holidays.  Sometimes the holidays seem to bring out the worst in people and with Christmas less than two months away more and more people will be out shopping and buying gifts.

While hijacking of cars has seen a decline in recent years in the United Kingdom and the police are working hard to ensure it remains low, that doesn’t mean you can sit back and relax.  Instead you may wish to be fully protected.  There are many benefits to having vehicle tracking on your fleet and other vehicles.  The most imperative is the ability to track stolen vehicles.

Since it seems we may be in for a rise in hijackings it is perhaps more important than ever to fit your vehicle with some type of GPS or other tracking device.  You can elect for the passive system to save money or go for a more expensive and helpful system. Before we look at the benefits of vehicle tracking we should explore these two options.  The passive system sends a signal at a set interval and can be activated by police when needed.  A more active system can send information in real time to help make tracking your vehicle easier.

The major benefit of vehicle tracking is recovering your stolen vehicle.  Consider for a moment that you have a fleet with vehicle tracking.  One of your vehicles is out on a call when it gets hijacked.  Your employee is able to push the SOS button before they lose the vehicle.  You are alerted that there is a problem.  You can go to your system and begin tracking the vehicle as you get the cops involved.  About an hour later the police are able to pull the hijacker over and recover your fleet vehicle and the contents inside.

There are numerous scenarios we could outline for you here.  The point is with the tracking system you can set up alerts for unauthorised movement of the vehicle, which helps you contact the police earlier than you might without the tracking device.  You also can follow the vehicle’s movements with the system to see where it may stop or be heading to help in the recovery.

A side benefit of being able to recover your vehicle with more alacrity is the insurance premiums.  Your insurance company may provide up to 10 percent off on your fleet if you install vehicle tracking.  The insurance companies appreciate your efforts to provide lower risk to them and thus reward you with a lower premium.

This year for the holidays you will not have to worry about a hijacked vehicle if you install vehicle tracking devices in your fleet or personal vehicle.  You can help reduce the number of hijackings just by being prudent in your business choices by adding tracking devices.
