Vehicle tracking systems are now available with the option of having a privacy button. The button will be fitted so that drivers can click this button when they are doing private journeys. This feature has come about to overcome the fears that many employees have about GPS tracking.
Company car drivers use their company cars outside of work. This use of the company car is quite legitimate and the employer is quite aware of this.
How does the privacy or secrecy button actually work I hear you ask. Well it is quite simple. When the privacy button is pressed the movements of where the vehicle is going cannot be seen. This maintains the privacy of private journeys. All of the information of this private journey is still stored so that it can be accessed at a later date and then used to work out the mileage used for private us and business use.
This means that the privacy of the employee is maintained while still keeping the advantage of working out the mileage which has been done for paperwork and expenses reasons. It’s a great solution to the problem of employees f objecting to tracking based on the grounds of invasion of privacy.
