Real Time Vehicle Tracking or Passive Vehicle Tracking
Tracking systems are evolving all the time and it has left the market with basically two types of tracking.
These are “Real Time Tracking” and “Passive Tracking”. If you are new to GPS tracking then you will probably have no idea of the difference between the two. I will enlighten you now.
Real Time Vehicle Tracking
This is the most commonly used type of tracking system as it enables you to view your vehicles location at any time throughout the day. This real time information can prove invaluable and can help to seriously improve customer service. This is because such systems enable you to give customers up to minute accurate information on when deliveries will be made.
Passive Vehicle Tracking
Passive tracking systems do not give you the opportunity to view where your vehicles are at all times. The tracking information is stored on the device installed in the vehicle and when it is returned to base the employee can then download the information to the computer.
Then this information can then be used. This type of tracking system is useful to help with paperwork such as expenses, invoicing and timesheets.
More often than not real time tracking is more expensive than passive tracking.
