There are often many security issues that surround the Olympics. One of these security issues is keeping the athletes safe and sound and out of harms way. Athletes are most at risk when travelling from place to place. For this reason they have decided an ideal of keeping track of them is to use GPS vehicle tracking systems at the 2010 Olympics. They will be shipping to Vancouver 830 GPS tracking devices. Vancouver is where the 2010 Olympics will be held.
In 1972 there was a terrible hostage situation in which 12 people died. This included one Police officer and 11 athletes. A terrorist organisation called Black September were responsible for the incident back in 1972, but today there are new terrorist threats which just as much a problem. As Canada are involved in the war in Afghanistan they are a prime target for terrorist attacks.
The organisers of the 2010 Olympics have not told the vehicle tracking systems supplier why they want the tracking devices, but it is assumed it is for security reasons.
Vehicle tracking is an ideal solution to such problems and is now being used in such situations more and more.
