Thin Clients and Website Applications

Virtually all vehicle tracking systems these days rely on the internet to communicate the information collected by the vehicle tracking system. It’s a fast, cheap way of getting the information to people and in this day and age virtually everyone has an internet connection of one sort or another.

There are two ways to view the information collected by your vehicle tracking system. The most common these days is via a secure website. This is a web application which you login to and from there you can view the location of all your vehicles. It can give you all the information your GPS vehicle tracking system provides and it can even give you this information when you are not in the office. In fact as long as you have an internet connection, a pc and your login details you can view the vehicle tracking application anywhere in the world.

The second way of viewing the vehicle tracking system information is a thin client. A thin client is not so popular these days as it requires you to install an application on the computer you wish to view it on. This application is the thing client and if you do not have it installed on the pc you cannot view your vehicles locations. This is obviously restricting and therefore thin clients are not much less popular. The thin client still requires that you have an internet connection. There are still thin clients in use, but they are in decline.
