TomTom Work with Tachograph Integration

TomTom are most famous for their satnavs, but they are also involved in GPS vehicle tracking systems. It’s a natural progression from satnav as they both rely on GPS technology to work.

TomTom Work have just released a real time tachograph integration to the TomTom WEBFleet product. Tachographs store information on how long vehicles are driving for, how long they are parked up for and rest times. By integrating this information with the vehicle tracking system it can help fleet managers and dispatch managers a great deal.

With traditional tachographs the information collected cannot be viewed until the vehicle returns back to the depot. This information is useful to help managers know what their vehicles are up to at all times and know what the hours drivers are doing.

The information that the tachograph collects can be viewed online and can be integrated with payroll systems to enable faster more efficient payments and cut down on paper work.

This is a feature we have not discussed here at VehicleTrackingSystems.org.uk before, but it is yet another ingenious use of the tracking technology available and will no doubt save companies a lot of money by making them much more efficient.
