There are a few things that spring to mind when thinking of tracking children… Do the children feel like you are invading their privacy? Or do they know that it is purely so that you can ensure that your child is safe? Personally, here at VTS we can see both side of the argument! If we were all teenagers again and our parents handed us a tracking system, would we have used it?
Children will most definitely feel like they are being watched at all times. A lot of children, especially teenagers will not like this, they will still be trying to fit in and to know that Mum or Dad are watching them will surely put them off of using the tracking system. But these systems can be set so that they just monitor that your child gets to school on time, or at all for that matter!
If children are now brought up with these new tracking facilities in place then they may come to accept that they are not living in Big Brother but their safety is being taken into consideration at all times.
The system used to tracking children works in a very similar way to the vehicle tracking systems that are being improved all of the time. The market for this type of product is forever on the up, so surely these systems are a good thing?
