Tracking Helps School Bus Drivers
In St Paul in Minnesota the school buses are all fitted with GPS vehicle tracking systems. These vehicle tracking systems were far from a popular with the bus drivers when they were first fitted, but now the tracking systems have been in full operation for sometime most of the drivers has completely changed their opinion of the tracking systems.
Why is this? Well there use to be many complaints from parents of buses not turning up to pick their kids up in the morning. The bus drivers would argue they were where they should have been and were perfectly punctual. The problem was before the tracking was fitted there was no way of proving who was telling the truth or was correct.
With vehicle tracking bus drivers and parents cannot tell porkies and if someone does make an allegation of a bus being late or just not turning up then it can easily be resolved by a touch of a button.
The vehicle tracking can help in other ways to. It use to be the case that new bus drivers would have to be accompanied by a supervisor to make sure they took the correct route, but now this is not necessary as they can be monitored and if they go off route they can contacted and told where they have gone wrong.
