Tracking the Temperature of Your Trailers

We have spoken about many of the advantages to vehicle tracking, but one thing we have not touched on is the ability to monitor the temperature of your trailers. For many companies this is not of any use or advantage, but for businesses that need to transport goods in chilled trailers this of benefit to them. Such companies may include food businesses and flower distributors.

When transporting frozen and chilled foods there are rules and regulations that govern what the temperature needs to be. If the trailer is not kept at the correct temperature then the food can be rejected when it arrives at its destination.

This can cost the food company a lot of money and in wasted time, fuel and a sale. Therefore it is imperative that this does not happen. A tracking system can help to prevent this from happening by alerting the driver when the temperature rises above a certain point.

This can then allow the driver to check that the door of the trailer is properly shut and if there are a lot of deliveries it can also make sure that the driver allows the temperature to drop before he opens the back of the lorry again.
