As we know there are many advantages to fleet managers if vehicle tracking systems are fitted in to their fleets, they are able to locate their vehicles should they be stolen or they can report on the speeds and the safe driving that their employees should be sticking too. However, some employees will definitely feel as though their privacy is being invaded.

With mobile phone tracking they have to have the mobile phone turned on in order for the tracking systems to work and the phone has to be kept within the vehicle in order for the vehicle to be tracked, otherwise it will be the employee themselves being tracked, if for example it is in their own pocket.

However, with vehicle tracking systems it does not matter whether the engine is on or off, the tracking device can be activated at any time and as the device is fitted to the vehicle it is not the employee that is being tracked.

Some employees may feel that it okay for them to run errands throughout the working day, personal errands that is and of course the majority of employers do not mind this, especially if the errand is in the same area that the vehicle is travelling to, or on the way. What employers do not want to see is their vehicles taking huge diversions to run personal errands.

Most employees will not mind that they are being tracked in this specific vehicle, but you will always have one or two employees that will definitely not like it.
