Vehicle Tracking Turned Off

If a vehicle tracking company goes bust on you what use it your vehicle tracking system. Well the truthful answer is it’s probably not a great deal of use anymore. Tracking systems rely on being connected to a satellite via GPS and a server via GPRS to enable them to work. Without these two services they are as good as useless.

If a vehicle tracking system company goes out of business nine times out of ten the servers are turned off and the GPS tracking system is no longer of any use. This is bad if you are tied into a long lease with a leasing company who still wants to collect their monthly fee. If you have paid for the tracking system up front then you are definitely out of pocket. Sometimes another company will take over the service and run the servers, but you cannot guarantee this will happen.

This is why many businesses are opting to get tracking under a pay as you go agreement where there is a much lower commitment and therefore a much lower risk of being left with a useless vehicle tracking system. Pay as you go is expected to continue to grow in popularity as more and more small businesses invest in tracking.
