Why Using Vehicle Tracking To Spy On Your Personal Life Does Not Make Sense
Yes I am sure some people could find great advantage in using GPS vehicle tracking systems to spy on people. Spouses and parents might want to use the technology for such purpose. Employees often complain that having a vehicle tracking system installed their vehicle could be used to invade their privacy, but let’s look at some facts before we start worrying about such things. Let’s be a little more rational about the whole subject.
Companies don’t really care what you use the vehicle for on a weekend, unless of course the vehicle is not allowed to be used for out of office use. If you have a company car it makes no difference to them where you go and what you do. Nine out of ten times the car is leased anyway. The company does not own it. It makes no difference to them if you run up the millage as long as you pay for the petrol. And after all you are only meant to claim for petrol within working hours. You can’t complain because it will stop you cheating your company out of fuel you should pay for.
The fact is that businesses install vehicle tracking because of the myriad of money saving and operational benefits, not because they want to spy on you in your personal time.
At the end of the day the only staff that have anything to whinge about regarding vehicle tracking are the staff that break the rules and use company vehicles and office hours to do stuff they should not.
